A little bit about me and our family

I wasn’t supposed to be the sick one…

When my husband and I got married (literally the day everything shut down in our town for Covid in 2020), we knew I had mysterious health problems but didn’t think much of them, and we knew he had Chron’s disease since infancy. Before we were even officially dating, we had to have the conversation about the possibility of our kids inheriting chronic illness and knew it was something we were up for. After a year of infertility, we finally got pregnant with my first–and finally found out a slew of health problems I had been dealing with my whole life were real and they were highly genetic. Oh boy, was that pregnancy hard. And we got pregnant again with our second just a couple months later. And got pregnant with our third a few months after that! Just a few years prior, the only thing we were really worried about was my husband’s Chron’s disease flaring up unexpectedly, but suddenly we were faced with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS), mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), postpartum psychosis, kids with frequent hospital stays and diagnostic tests and sickness, an ever growing list of food and chemical allergies… not what I expected at all. But we’re here, God has us in this for a reason, and we’re making it work! So whether it’s you, a spouse or partner, or your child with health problems, we can relate! I’m working to share the things we’ve learned, create resources that we ourselves use to keep track of things, share recipes and tips particularly to deal with food allergies, managing mental health, and thriving with 3 under 3 in a way that doesn’t compromise your own needs. Nothing we’ve gone through is considered “common” and I could never find a space where I felt truly heard and understood, so I strive to make that place for you!
